2/27/06 - Bo's skin has torn. It's the area I was watching. I believe what is happening is his feathers are coming in subcutaneously causing an irritation and than "erupting". I think in some of the photos, if you save them to your computer and enlarge them you will see some of these feathers. They appear as raised, white lines under his skin (some appear purplish also). The area that tore was an area that was not healing very well to start w/ and he formed a feather under it and it just complicated things. Poor guy, who knew a bird attempting to grow feathers could have such a problem and these feathers becoming a "health hazard :- (

All the other areas are healing well, his right side which was the problem area before is almost fully healed as you can see in the pictures. So in my non-professional opinion, it looks like Bo will be needing another surgery. Not sure when as we are still trying to rally him from the last 2. He had an appointment on the 8th but is now moved up to March 1st.
